Templates, templates, templates

Templates, templates, templates
With the proliferation of services like Canva, Adobe Express, WordPress templates and web building tools like Squarespace and Wix, and now Generative AI, all of which are all very useful to get an aspiring entrepreneur off the ground quickly, the internet especially is becoming a very samey place.
It is making things more difficult for designers to demonstrate the value of original and appropriate design - especially when many themselves are using templates from stock libraries also.
Also, a lot of today’s prominent designers seem to more concerned with being seen as influencers and ‘gurus’ gaining fame rather than do mainly commercial work.
It must be frustrating to attend trade shows and see the same image you have used on the cover of your new brochure on other competitors’ material, it gets difficult to stand out from the crowd and the impact is lost when something has been seen before.
The same thing happened when royalty free photography took over from licensing shots exclusively or getting commissioned photography, you see the same images in so many places which can dilute your company’s marketing which is so critical for getting new business.
Imagine art going the same way!
